Sugarcane Top Borer is one of the serious pest of sugarcane in northern states of India. This pest attacks on shoots of crop.
This pest is mainly found in the sugarcane producing states of north India. According to the environmental condition 5 generations of the pest complete throughout the year. Adult moths looks white-glorious if else the outbreak of this is also terrible and damage. Damage symptoms can appear anytime from 5-6 months of crop till the last. Damage and outbreak symptoms are visible on the top of the crop. The newly hatched larva makes a white tunnel in the middle vein located on the lower surface of the leaf. Catching adult moth is one of the best way to manage this pest. Use Sugarcane top-b lure with water trap and manage this pest.
